Partnerships
The Center for Transformative Health and the Institute of Urban Public Health work in long-standing partnership with community-based organizations, faith communities, health agencies, and civic institutions across Houston. These relationships are the foundation of our work — the reason research moves into communities, and the reason the questions we study are grounded in what communities actually face.
What partnership with CTH/IUPH looks like
Partnerships range in formality and scope. Some are formalized through Memoranda of Understanding for specific projects or research initiatives. Others are ongoing collaborative relationships that shape the questions we ask, the studies we design, and the programs we run. Regardless of form, our partnerships share a few commitments:
Communities and partner organizations help shape research questions, not only respond to them
Findings flow back to communities in usable form, not only to academic audiences
Capacity and credit are shared — partners are co-investigators, co-authors, and co-leaders where the work supports it
Partnerships are sustained, not project-limited
